An LED Screen Selection Checklist for House of Worship

Selecting the right LED display for your house of worship can be a daunting task. With so many options available, it’s essential to make informed decisions to ensure your congregation has the best visual experience. You have to know whether you’re choosing the best LED panel for your needs, what pixel pitch is suited for your viewers, what kind of features you need, and so much more.

Whether you’re upgrading your current setup or installing a new one, this step-by-step checklist will help guide you through the process to understanding the next steps for investing in your new LED video wall.

1. Choose Your Series

The very first step in the process is to decide on what LED Series you’ll need. Start by considering your specific needs, such as the intended application, indoor or outdoor use, and budget. Different series of LED panels cater to various requirements. Some of the most popular LED Series we recommend for house of worship are:

  • A Series: Offers advanced features and higher resolution, perfect for detailed visuals.
  • B Series: Ideal for general-purpose use with a balance of quality and cost, with added sizes and capabilities.
  • M Series: Designed for specialized and mobile applications with the possibility for unique shapes and configurations.

2. Choose a Pixel Pitch

Pixel pitch refers to the distance between the center of one pixel to the center of the next pixel, impacting the clarity and sharpness of the images displayed. Arguably, you may need to consider the pixel pitch before you even choose an LED Series, however not all scenarios will work in that case. All panels from Firefly LED come in multiple pixel pitch options, so we still believe in choosing the right Series first, and then figuring out what pixel pitch options in that Series work best for you.

When deciding on the pixel pitch, you need to consider the viewing distance and the level of detail you want:

  • Close Viewing: A smaller pixel pitch provides sharper images, ideal for closer audiences.
  • Distant Viewing: A larger pixel pitch is more cost-effective and suitable for larger spaces.

Your Pixel Pitch: ______ mm

3. Choose a Size/Shape

The physical dimensions and shape of your LED display should complement your venue’s layout and design. Traditional rectangular screens are common, but consider unique shapes or curved designs to enhance the visual appeal.

If you do need a very custom shaped display, it’s possible you’ll have to consider a different LED Series, however the possibilities in what Firefly LED can help manufacture really varies.

Nonetheless, you’ll want to dial in the overall size of the display you need so you can determine the number of LED panels.

Your Screen Size: ______ ft. wide x _______ ft. tall

4. Choose Your Installation Method

Alright, at this point we’ve chosen your LED Series, the preferred pixel pitch, and dialed in the size of your display — now, where do you want to put it? The location of the display and it’s usage will help you figure out what kind of installation will work best for you. The installation method depends on your venue’s infrastructure and your budget. Options include:

  • Wall-Mount: Ideal for permanent installations, such as backdrops.
  • Ground: Flexible and easy to set up, suitable for temporary or semi-permanent setups.
  • Suspended: Offers a floating effect, great for larger venues with high ceilings.

Your Install Method: Wall Mount | Ground | Suspended

5. Choose Your Upgrades

Just like buying a car, you will likely have options to help enhance your LED display’s performance with some upgrades. Certainly, no upgrade is totally necessary, unless you are building a display that needs a more robust electrical supply, for example.

Here are some upgrades to consider:

  • Advanced Sending Controllers: For superior image processing.
  • Backup Power Supplies: Ensures uninterrupted performance.
  • Integrated Software Solutions: Streamline content management and scheduling.
